Bio

Svea is responsible for coordinating work on the three MOOCs summarizing STRIPE’s findings, as well as the preparation of teaching case studies. She has also been collaborating on analyzing qualitative data around campaign effectiveness. 

Svea is a medical anthropologist and Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She has been studying polio eradication since 2005 and has written a book and many research articles on the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. Her research on polio eradication has focused on Pakistan, and prior to STRIPE she had also worked with international colleagues to study polio programs in Nepal, India, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Angola, and Nigeria.
