Outside of politics, there are significant social stigmas associated with affordable and public housing. This study reviews a large empirical literature investigating the impact of rent controls on various socioeconomic and demographic aspects. Webrental assistance that stabilizes residents when they experience a financial crisis is crucial to helping people avoid losing their homes. But to have the biggest impact, this assistance needs to reach the people most at. Webby 2021, most programs covered at least 3 months of forward rent (94%, n = 52) and more than 6 months of arrears (96%, n = 58) and tailored the amount of the assistance to tenant need (98%, n = 58), likely reducing the risk of eviction and homelessness for participating households. The poorer health of private renters in our study may reflect the average lower quality of homes in the sector. Private rented homes, for example, are more likely to have damp.
