The commission works to provide housing assistance and affordable housing opportunities to these groups: Webcommunity rebuilders is partnering with the city of grand rapids to address the housing needs of persons who are sleeping on the streets. Members of the targeted outreach team may use this portal to assist persons residing in geographically targeted areas in accessing supported solutions. Webprovides a wide range of social services and emergency assistance or help accessing available assistance: Cash assistance, state disability, ssi, refugee assistance, food stamps, medicaid health coverage, child day care information, assistance with home repairs, heat and utility bills, relocation. Webthe grand rapids housing commission emergency housing voucher (ehv) program assists households that are experiencing homelessness, at risk of experiencing homelessness, or are fleeing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking or human trafficking; Referral is through the salvation army. Webfounded in 2001, shepherds of independence provides permanent supportive housing in grand rapids, michigan for 48 mentally and/or physically disabled adults who have become homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless.
